The Center for Human Enrichment Student Support Services is funded through a TRIO grant from the U.S. Department of Education and receives matching support from the University of Northern Colorado. PR/Award Number P042A060794. For 2006-2007 $445,688 (100 %) total funds; $268,918 (60 %) Federal funding and $176,770 (40 %) institutional matching funds.

Biography: BA/MA from UNC (non-trad/1st Gen)--Eng. instructor at UNC 12 yrs.--10 yrs. at CHE. Montrose Co. native. Former rancher, hard rock miner, and custom home subcontractor. Favorite novel: Ulysses, by James Joyce. Motto: Failure is not an option.

Biography: A Colorado native who also lived in New Orleans for nine years and taught at historically black universities, I have also written and published poems for decades. My artistic endeavors include novel writing, photography, documentary filmmaking, and oral history recording of citizens in New Orleans post-Katrina. Besides my 21-year partner who passed away on Dec. 25, 2006, I have one son and daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, and two grandbabies as well as three siblings, my partner's siblings and their families, and numerous nieces, nephews, and two grandnephews in my life. I collaborate with other artists to create works that enhance or inspire cultural transformation.
